Robotic aerosol can De-palletisation roll out
The customer is a house hold name and global manufacturer of deodorant and antiperspirant products.
The functional requirements were for de-palletizing systems capable of handling layers of empty aerosol cans from pallets onto a conveyor which were then to be fed in a single file into existing equipment.
Additionally the cell had to be able to allow operators to manually load bundled can layers onto the layer wide conveyors during the transition from bundled layers to full unbundled layers.
The system would allow the customer to gain more capacity on their pallets, reduce headcount and optimize their existing AGV system.
There was a high variety of products, so the system had to be adaptable. Space constraints also provided issues, so the footprint of each system had to be carefully considered.
The requirement was for 11 individual robotic de-palletising systems servicing their key production lines at their major manufacturing site in the North of England.
SCM was selected as the supplier for this project due to our strong track record in delivering automated palletising & de-palletising systems across a broad spectrum of industrial settings. SCM’s status as KUKA Robotics UK’s platinum system partner for all palletising & de-palletising systems also provided the customer with further assurances that SCM were the partner to deliver the project.
Each system has been designed to allow for fully automatic de-palletization and also manual de-palletization should the system be down for whatever reason or if the customer is running bundled cans.
The SCM systems are allowing the customer to achieve the objectives detailed in the scope of project. The systems are intuitive, easy to use and safe.
They allow the customer to seamlessly switch between manual and automatic mode via the HMI screen, a prerequisite detailed by the customer from the very start of the project.
